Cosmic Universe Readies Elf Minting With Discount 'Tickets'

Cosmic Universe is preparing for the arrival of its elf collection with a special round of “Cosmic Tickets.”

The game, set to launch on the Harmony Network, has been preparing to release 10,000 elf NFTs, which will be playable in the game. Its founder, Wizzard Blizzard, announced Friday that Cosmic Universe was making 5,000 tickets available for early adopters.

“These are special discount tickets for our upcoming Elves NFT mint that guarantee you will receive anywhere between 5 percent and 20 percent discounts per ticket,” WizzBlizz wrote in an announcement in the game’s Discord server. “These tickets also ensure you can have peace of mind to mint at any time instead of needing to rush a minting site on the mint launch date.”

The tickets cost 10 USDC, while elves are slated to cost 250 USDC. Discount values will be assigned at random. “This means a discount between $12.50 to $50 is guaranteed to come with every ticket minted,” WizzBlizz noted. “Therefore, $200-$238.50 would be the price of an Elf NFT when your wallet holds a Cosmic Ticket in its wallet while you are minting Elves NFTs. A Cosmic Ticket will both provide a discount for 1 Elf NFT per discount ticket, and will also reserve a spot for seven days, meaning they have to be used within seven days from the start of the Elves mint in order to guarantee a minting spot.”

Minting will be opened to the broader public after seven days, meaning the elf supply will eventually run out, even if tickets go unused. They’re being sold in Cosmic Universe’s native marketplace.

Elves follow the earlier release of wizards, which were also limited to a supply of 10,000. The play-to-earn game is expected to offer a daily sign-in bonus — paid with one of its tokens, MAGIC or COSMIC — for characters with the rarest traits, which are assigned at random during minting. Five more races will be released in the future — including yetis, apes, trolls, dwarves, and “ravers” — summing up to a tentative character cap of 70,000. The system promises a significant contrast to the inflationary hero supply in another blockchain game, DeFi Kingdoms (DFK), which allows for unlimited hero creation. As of Friday, the character count in DFK stood at just under 230,000.

However, WizzBlizz said on Friday that “elves will be the only Character NFT collection released until 2023.” He also said the discount tickets would be “randomized using a 1,000-sided virtual dice with no specific cap on any discount level.”

The game released its first playable demo this week, which is accessible online or (on PCs) by download. Cosmic Universe is scheduled to launch a “pre-alpha” phase by the end of July, which will be available exclusively to players who apply and are accepted. That will followed by an “alpha” phase, with a beta phase at the end of the year. Full release is slated for early 2023.
