How to add Harmony to MetaMask (With a List of RPCs)

Are you looking to add the Harmony Network to MetaMask — or having trouble with the main network? Fortunately, you have a few options in terms of which one to use.

What is an RPC?

RPC stands for “remote procedure call.” It’s a form of communication in distributed computing. When a network — like Harmony — gets too clogged with traffic, it can result in your transactions getting suck, as well as outrageously high gas fees. Using a different RPC can help to resolve those issues.

How to Add a Harmony RPC in MetaMask: Instructions and Screenshots

If you’d like to add an RPC to your MetaMask wallet (including Harmony’s main network), navigate to your wallet and click on it. Then click on your network in the upper part of your wallet. It will probably say “Ethereum,” or if you’re already connected to the Harmony Network, “Harmony.” See the screenshot below for an illustration.

Next, you should be able to see a button that says “Add Network.” Click on it. That will bring you to several fields that you need to fill out: Network name (which you may pick), RPC URL, Chain ID, Currency Symbol, and Block Explorer URL (which is optional).

A List of RPCs and the Details You Need to Add Them

As of July 2022, Harmony has three main RPC options for the average user. The first is the main network. The other two are Pokt and Fuzz. Use their details below to finish adding them to your wallet. If you’re looking to add Harmony to MetaMask, you only need one. But at some point in the future, you are probably going to want to use the other options as well.

At one point in time, Cosmic Universe also offered an RPC. If you came here looking for it, we have bad news: The project took it offline in July 2022 after it migrated to the Avalanche (AVAX) network.
